Fishing has been very good the last week and should remain that way over the next couple of weeks with a stable flow at 7000 CFS and water temps increasing to the 50-degree mark. The most productive stretch of river is the first 13 miles, but the lower river is also cleaning up and fishing well, too.
Nymph fishing is the ticket right now with sow bugs, scuds, baetis nymphs, and every day there are more and more PMD nymphs moving around on the bottom of the river. The hatch is only a short time away, and we should see good dry fly fishing again in the coming days with PMDs and caddis.
Streamer fishing is also good, especially on overcast days. The river is clean right now, so it is no problem pulling streamers off the banks or sinking them mid river. Vary color and retrieve speed to find out what the fish like because it will change from day to day.
As always, with the higher water, use caution when wade fishing and handling your boat at the take out. Summer fishing is in full swing, and the fishing is good! See you on the water.
